As we kick off Black History Month, we came together as a community to honor history, celebrate legacy, and reflect on the impact of the past 100 years.
The Black History Month Flag Raising was a meaningful moment that invited us to pause and recognize the generations of Black leaders, educators, families, artists, and advocates who have shaped Lancaster and continue to shape our future. As the flag rose, it stood as a symbol of pride and the enduring contributions of the Black community.
Black history is not limited to a single month. It lives in our schools, our neighborhoods, and in the responsibility we share to teach and uplift the full story of our city. It shows up in our classrooms, in student voices, and in the commitment to ensuring every learner feels seen, valued, and supported.
Celebrating 100 years gives us an opportunity to reflect with gratitude, honor those who paved the way, and recommit ourselves to equity, inclusion, and opportunity for all.
Thank you to our community partners, students, staff, and families who joined us for this powerful moment as we begin Black History Month together.
